How to activate your Telair eSIM Companion Plan on a smartwatch
The Telair eSIM Companion Plan connects one compatible cellular-enabled smartwatch to your eligible Telair 5G mobile service.
Your watch shares your mobile number, allowing you to make and receive calls on your watch without your phone nearby. Incoming calls ring on both your phone and watch.
Check your devices are compatible
You need an eligible Telair 5G mobile plan, plus a compatible phone and cellular-enabled smartwatch from the same manufacturer. Both devices should be running current software.

Before you activate
Before starting, check that:
- Your watch is a cellular-enabled model that supports eSIM.
- Your Telair mobile service is on an eligible 5G mobile plan.
- Your phone and watch are from the same manufacturer ecosystem.
- Both devices are connected to the internet.
- Both devices are running current software.
- Your phone and watch are paired via Bluetooth.
- Your phone and watch stay close together during setup.

Always confirm that the smartphone’s eSIM capability is enabled and supported by the carrier before purchasing or activating the companion plan.
Activate an Apple Watch
- Contact Telair to get your activation PIN.
- On your paired iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
- Tap Mobile.
- Tap Set Up Mobile Plan.
- Follow the prompts to start setting up the mobile service on your watch.
- Enter your Telair activation PIN when asked.
- Enter the one-time security code sent by SMS to your phone.
- Accept the prompt to add the mobile plan to your Apple Watch.
- Follow any remaining onscreen prompts to complete activation.
Activate a Samsung Galaxy Watch
- Contact Telair to get your activation PIN.
- On your paired Samsung Galaxy phone, open the Galaxy Wearable app.
- Tap Watch settings.
- Tap Mobile plans.
- Tap Next.
- Follow the prompts to start setting up the mobile service on your watch.
- Enter your Telair activation PIN when asked.
- Enter the one-time security code sent by SMS to your phone.
- Accept the prompt to add the mobile plan to your Galaxy Watch.
- Follow any remaining onscreen prompts to complete activation.
Important things to know
- The Companion Plan connects one compatible cellular smartwatch to an eligible Telair 5G mobile service.
- Your watch uses the same mobile number as your phone.
- The plan costs $10 a month including GST, in addition to your primary mobile service, with a one-month minimum term.
- The watch receives 1GB of data each month. This allowance is separate from your phone plan and does not roll over.
- If the watch uses its full 1GB allowance, its mobile service stops working until the next billing cycle starts.
- Unlimited domestic calls are included.
- SMS and MMS are not included.
- The maximum download speed is 100 Mbps (note that this is not a minimum, and speeds will vary).
- International roaming is not supported.
- If your primary mobile service is suspended or cancelled, the Companion Plan is also suspended or cancelled.
- If you change phones, you may need to remove and reactivate the Companion Plan on the replacement phone.
- If you replace your watch, contact Telair before moving the service to the replacement watch.
Having trouble activating your watch?
If you cannot see the option to connect your watch, check that:
- Your watch is a compatible cellular-enabled model.
- Your phone and watch are a supported pairing.
- Your watch supports eSIM.
- Both devices are connected to the internet.
- Both devices have current software installed.
- Your phone and watch are paired via Bluetooth and are close together.
- Your Telair mobile service is on an eligible 5G plan.

How to disconnect your eSIM Companion Plan
You can disconnect your smartwatch directly through the management app on your paired smartphone.
Before you disconnect
There are a few important things to be aware of:
- Your watch will lose independent mobile connectivity. Once disconnected, your watch will no longer be able to make calls or use mobile data independently from your phone.
- There are no pro-rata refunds. If you disconnect your Companion Plan part-way through a billing month, the full monthly fee for that billing cycle will still apply.
- Charges apply if you reconnect later. If you reconnect your watch in the future, a new minimum monthly charge and one-off eSIM fee will apply when the service is reactivated.
Disconnect your smartwatch
1. Open the management app on your phone
- iPhone: Open the Watch app.
- Samsung: Open the Galaxy Wearable app.
2. Remove the connected device
- Select your connected watch from the device list.
- Tap Remove.
- Review the details shown.
- Tap Accept & Remove Device to confirm the disconnection.
- Tap Done.
Once completed, the Companion Plan will be disconnected from your smartwatch.
How to swap your smartwatch
If you replace your smartwatch, the existing watch needs to be disconnected from the eSIM Companion Plan before the new watch can be activated.
The steps are slightly different for Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch.
Apple Watch
1. Remove the mobile plan from your old watch
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap the My Watch tab.
- Tap Mobile or Cellular.
- Find your current mobile plan.
- Tap the information icon next to the plan.
- Tap Remove Plan.
- Confirm the removal.
If you are trading in the old watch or no longer plan to use it, erasing the watch will also remove the eSIM profile from that device.
2. Pair your new Apple Watch
Bring your new Apple Watch near your iPhone and follow the standard pairing process in the Watch app.
3. Activate the Companion Plan on your new watch
During setup, the Watch app will prompt you to Set Up Cellular.
Follow the onscreen instructions to activate the Companion Plan on your new watch.
Samsung Galaxy Watch
1. Remove the mobile plan from your old watch
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone.
- Select your old watch.
- Go to Watch settings > Mobile plans.
- Select your current mobile plan.
- Tap Remove or Delete.
- Confirm the removal.
This step releases the eSIM profile from your old watch so it can be replaced.
2. Pair your new Galaxy Watch
- Put your new watch into pairing mode.
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone.
- Tap Add new device.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to complete Bluetooth pairing.
3. Activate the Companion Plan on your new watch
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app.
- Go to Watch settings > Mobile plans.
- Tap Add mobile plan or Set up mobile plan.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to complete activation.
If you run into trouble swapping watches, contact Telair Support before deleting or resetting any additional eSIM profiles.
Companion Plan Frequently Asked Questions
Can more than one cellular-enabled watch be connected to my Mobile Primary service?
No. Only one cellular-enabled smart watch can be connected to your Primary mobile service at a time. To replace the existing device in the plan with the new companion device, you will need to confirm the disconnection of the existing companion device associated with the smartphone.
Can I downgrade to a 4G plan with a companion plan?
No. Downgrading to a 4G plan is not supported. To downgrade to a 4G plan, first remove the companion plan from your device.
Can I use my main mobile plan data inclusion?
No, the plan is designed to be self-sufficient.
What happens if my plan runs out of data?
In an unlikely scenario where plan runs out of data, the secondary plan will not be able to operate till the next bill cycle. Note that typical known data use on a smartwatch is around 100MB.
Do I need my phone nearby to activate eSIM companion plan?
Yes, you will need your device to be connected to your smartwatch via Bluetooth during the initial setup and through the activation process.
Can I use my eSIM companion plan while traveling overseas?
No, the eSIM companion plan is meant for use within Australia only. It won’t support calls and data usage overseas. However, if your smart watch has WiFi capabilities, you may be able to connect to a WiFi network and use certain features like receiving notifications (If your phone is also connected and using WiFi based apps.
What happens if I don’t see the option to connect my smart watch in my watch app?
Please check and ensure that:
- Your smart watch is a cellular enabled model that supports eSIM
- Your smart watch software is up to date
- Your devices are connected to the internet
If you don’t see further options, this might also mean that the smart watch may not be compatible. Please check if your device is supported on the pre-requisites page.
What if I’m subscribed to eSIM companion plan and I change my phone/watch?
Even if you have the same manufacturer for a new device, the Companion Plan must be deactivated then and activated again through the new device.
