Before you head overseas, it's important to ensure that your Telair mobile service is ready to stay connected. Activating International Roaming allows you to use your mobile service while travelling in eligible countries. With the Day Pass, you can manage your roaming costs more effectively.
Here’s how to activate International Roaming and ensure that you receive the benefits of the Day Pass during your travels.
Note: this method is only applicable to Telair mobile services that operate on the Telstra Wholesale mobile network. Please also note, Telair Mobile does not support Pay As You Go International Roaming. If you're visiting a country where the International Day Pass doesn't apply, please source a local SIM card.
Activation Process

Prior to Leaving Australia:
- Before you leave Australia, call us on 1800 835 247 or lodge a support ticket to double check your mobile service has International Roaming unlocked, and an International Day Pass assigned to you.

Arrival in a Foreign Country:
- Upon arriving in a country where the Day Pass is available, you should automatically receive a welcome SMS from the local network provider.

Follow the SMS Instructions:
- The welcome SMS will include a prompt advising you to activate International Roaming by sending a text message.
- To activate the Day Pass, simply SMS the word ‘Roam’ to 179.

Confirmation of Activation:
- After sending the SMS, you will receive a confirmation message indicating that the Day Pass has been successfully activated on your service.
- This activation will apply the Day Pass for the current day and ensure that additional Day Passes are automatically added on subsequent days without the need to message 'Roam' again.

Automatic Renewal:
- Once activated, the Day Pass will be applied daily for the duration of your stay in the eligible country, provided you continue to use your mobile service.
Additional Information
- Day Pass Coverage: The Day Pass is available in a wide range of countries. Ensure that your destination is included in the eligible countries list.
- No Repeated Activation Needed: After the initial activation by sending ‘Roam’ to 179, the Day Pass will automatically renew each day, removing the need to send additional messages.
- Cost Management: The Day Pass helps you manage roaming costs by offering Unlimited Standard National Calls and Texts within the country you're visiting, limited to fixed-line and mobile numbers within that country, along with 200MB of data for a daily fee. Calls and texts to Australia are not included. If you exceed the 200MB of data, the Day Pass will automatically renew immediately, rather than waiting for the 24 hour usage period to expire. Note that any unused data expires upon renewal and cannot be banked or shared.
